I think with point 2, whilst focusing on metrics it’s important to present low-fi mocks to the hippos to ensure conversations don’t deviate to visual aesthetics debates. For those hippos/senior stakeholders that WANT an opinion on visual, this is where goal orientated design comes into the conversation and the goal is to represent their brand/company in a way which is known to them. Asking hippos/senior stakeholders how they want their company to be perceived maintains the design team having control over the visual aesthetics but the goal itself is set by those above.
